On the last day of 2018, Ariana Grande has been reflecting on the past 12 months and she’s the first to admit it she has been through some tough times.
Following the Manchester Arena attack during her Dangerous Woman tour in 2017, the singer lost her former boyfriend Mac Miller in September this year. Just a month later, she ended her engagement to Saturday Night Live comedian Pete Davidson after their five-month romance. Now, Ariana is ready to move on and welcome in 2019.
In a message shared on New Year’s Eve, Ariana said goodbye to 2018 and sent best wishes to her fans for the year ahead.
“Farewell 2018, you f*ck,” she wrote on Instagram. “I hope this new year brings you all much laughter, clarity and healing. Be gentle with yourselves and each other. If we made it thru this last year, we’ll for sure make it thru this one. Thank you for everything.”
The poignant post comes after Ariana explained that it had been one of the “best years of my career and the worst of my life” when she accepted the award for Woman of the Year at the Billboard Women In Music awards in early December.
“A lot of people would look at someone in my position right now as an artist that could be at her peak and think, ‘She’s really got her sh*t together, she’s really on it. She’s got it all.’ And I do, but as far as my personal life goes, I really have no idea what the f*ck I’m doing,” she said on stage.
“It’s been a very conflicting one, and I just want to say if you’re someone out there who has no idea what this next chapter is going to bring, you’re not alone in that.”
